James Bond actor Daniel Craig starred in a wild ad for Belvedere Vodka directed by Taika Waititi. This is a side of the 007 star that many fans haven’t seen. He scanning the halls and busting out some dance moves had all the social media talking. If this is what the retirement of those movies entails, it’s going to be quite the show. He riffs on the fly and tries on different outfits, but seems totally at home in whatever Waititi throws at him. Belvedere must be ecstatic with the performance of the clip as it has already been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube. Go ahead and take a look for yourself here.
Here’s how Belvedere describes the bold clip: “Bold in spirit with a warmly rebellious energy, the campaign unites an exceptional community of collaborators. Craig is skillfully and humorously choreographed by acclaimed choreographer JaQuel Knight, set to an original track written and performed by global superstars Rita Ora and Giggs and produced by hitmakers Invisible Men, Bandits and Hungry Man.The campaign’s accompanying stills were shot by the iconic Juergen Teller, in the same suite that forms the backdrop for the film’s grand finale, while Christine Centenera styled the shoot with a clean, modern edge.”
“All in all, a group of inventive and gifted provocateurs, each with a penchant for the unconventional, have creatively created an incredibly unique snapshot as a nod to their own and Belvedere’s shared values of self-expression, authenticity and style,” they continued.
What made Craig decide to stop playing James Bond?
A recent interview with the Los Angeles Times made it clear that Craig saw the light at some point. It just wasn’t the same and that was the time to hang up his tuxedo. “Two things, one for myself and one for the franchise,” Craig began. “I was like, ‘Well, you need to reset.’ So let’s kill off my character and go find another Bond and find another story [age] 23, start at 25, start at 30.”
“The other was so I could move on,” he continued. “I don’t want to go back. I suppose I’d be so lucky if they asked me back, but the fact is I have to get rid of it. The sacrifice he makes in the movie was for love, and there’s no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to end with it.”
