A new edition of Skull comes out this year, along with several new spin-off games. Hasbro and Funko Games announced last week that Funko Games is launching a new line of Skull party games, including a brand new 25th Anniversary Edition coming this spring. The new edition of Skull will feature hundreds of new maps and brand new content, along with activities from around the world Skull line. The 25th anniversary edition of Skull will be released in the spring of 2023 at various chain stores.
Several spin-off games were also announced, including Cranium: Big Brain – Detective Game, a children’s game focused on hidden objects and mystery solving, a new version of the app-driven high energy Cranium Hullabaloo, and the cooperative timed game Cranium hoop. These three games will be released in the summer of 2023.
Skull is one of the best-selling party games of all time, combining trivia and party game activities into a fun and imaginative experience. Originally published in 1998, Skull spawned a series of spin-off games before being sold to Hasbro in 2008. Hasbro has kept the line going, with several new additions, such as a Skull dark game.
The announcement is also notable because it continues a trend of Hasbro lending different brands of board games to other publishers. Hasbro also has a robust licensing deal with Renegade Game Studio, which includes several classic board games such as Axis and allies and the rights to create board games based on successful Hasbro properties such as GI JOE, My Little Pony and Power Rangers.
