DC’s Stargirl is coming to a close with the December 7 season 3 finale also serving as the series finale, though the series will have a happy ending. Star Brec Bassinger recently revealed that the show made two endings pending the fate of the show, and now it sounds like fans will finally get to see the unaired ending. During an appearance on the Wayne Ayers Podcast (via CBR), Bassinger said showrunner Geoff Johns is trying to release the “uncancelled” ending on DVD.
“So Geoff said he might put it out on the DVD,” Bassinger said. “He doesn’t know. I hope he does. But it will make people sad because the idea for the fourth season was insane.”
Bassinger also said she feels the “insane” idea for season 4 is part of the reason it took so long for the decision on the fate of DC’s Stargirl to be officially made.
“It would have just been epic, on a whole other level,” she said. “And I actually think that’s why it took us so long to officially get the cancellation news, because everyone wanted this fourth season to get made. Geoff came up with such a great idea and that’s why I think everyone really fought for it. But You know, it just wasn’t meant to be.”
When will the last episode of Stargirl air?
Aside from leaving on Wednesday, November 30, Stargirl will continue to air new episodes on Wednesdays through December 7, when it will finally end.
“Star girl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons. With all the brewing changes on the network we knew this might be the last season so we wrote with that in mind and delivered what I think was the best season of Star girl but with a full creative close,” said Johns. “The cast and crew are extraordinary and I want to thank them for helping to bring this series to life. Brec embodied Courtney in every way – with grace, strength and wit – and exceeded my wildest expectations. I am grateful to WBTV and The CW for giving us a home to tell this story and honor my beloved late sister, and beyond grateful to the press and fans who have always stood by us through three amazing seasons. Most series never get that far. We couldn’t be more proud of our show and the fan community it has built!”
