Jason Momoa has been hinting at some big news for the DC Universe over the past few months, and he recently teased something pretty significant. There are rumors that Momoa could leave his Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom role behind and play a new character in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios slate, but the actor has pretty heavily denied that. Gunn and Safran will unveil their new DC Studios slate later this month, and none other than senior executives at Warner Bros. Discovery seems to know exactly what’s about to happen. Momoa is rumored to be cast as Lobo in the new DC Universe and an artist has created a cool new design that shows what he could look like as the character.
An artist on Instagram known as @Clements.Ink has created a new design that shows how the Aquarius star could look like the main man. In the fan art, Momoa is given the character’s classic gray skin and red eyes, making him look like the living embodiment of Lobo. Not much is clear about the future of Gunn and Safran’s DC Universe, but it seems past actors could end up playing different roles in their universe. You can check out the fan art below!
Gunn and Safran started out as co-CEOs of DC Studios last year, and it’s safe to say DC’s future looks bright. When the duo was announced by the new boss of Warner Bros. Discovery, they released a statement about their enthusiasm for the job.
“We are honored to be the stewards of these DC characters that we’ve loved since we were kids,” Gunn and Safran added in a joint statement. “We look forward to working with the most talented writers, directors and actors in the world to create an integrated, multi-layered universe that still allows for the individual expression of the artists involved. Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn and the rest of DC’s stable of characters is matched only by our dedication to the wonder of human possibility that these characters represent. We are excited to revive the theater experience around the world while we have some of the greatest, greatest, and greatest stories ever told.”
