Mark Hamilton makes an exception to the rules it has imposed on its own career and will monetize its participation in them Star Wars for a good cause.
The actor took part in an interview for the website Politics, and in it he revealed that he will be auctioning off a limited edition of the movie posters he signed. According to him, all the amount collected will be used for the army of Ukrainewho is at war with Russia:
“We decided to sign some posters Star Wars, a limited amount. This is for those hardcore collectors, especially those who have an income they won’t miss. If you earn a lot more than you think, you know it.”
“This is not something I usually do,” Mark said. The last time he signed items for sale was in 2017, as a promotion for the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Mark stated that he knows he owes his fame and success in Hollywood to his participation in the franchise, and that he thinks it’s right to give back in any way he can. He also explained that the “do good for everyone” message of the films is something to be done in real life:
“Fiction is a fairy tale for children, that’s how it is Star Wars originally envisioned. And the reality, the harsh reality of what is happening in Ukraine is terrible. Anything I can do, no matter how small, I feel obligated to do.”
Money raised from Star Wars posters can help the country protect its borders
The actor explained in a press statement that the proceeds from the auction will be jointly managed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The value should fund the purchase of drones to protect the country, he said.
“Drones are incredibly important in this conflict, they are eyes in the sky,” the actor explains. “They protect the border and guard it.”
“I am sure that Ukrainians need drones to protect their country, their freedom and the values of the democratic world as a whole. This is the best time for all of us to come together and help Ukraine stay afloat in this war against the evil empire.”
