Three limited edition ‘Issue 55’ versions of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG A45 S hot hatch, Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S Performance sedan and Mercedes-AMG G63 SUV are scheduled to open for orders next week.

The special editions add a selection of exterior and interior trim elements to celebrate 55 years since AMG was founded as an independent company building engines and soon thereafter preparing Mercedes-Benz vehicles for racing.

AMG’s 55th celebration was actually in 2022, but only now has this special edition arrived in Australia. While it might seem an odd number to celebrate, consider that BMW made a big deal out of its M division’s 50th birthday last year.

Prices for the Edition 55 models range from $8,900 to $29,900 over the base price of each vehicle.

The G63 Edition 55 is available to order Tuesday, February 7th and is priced at $29,900 on top of the base vehicle price.

New orders for the standard Mercedes-AMG G63 have been closed for more than 12 months and remain so. The G63 Edition 55 models are all pre-specified vehicles that can be ordered separately in limited numbers.

It includes the Night Pack and Night Pack II – with gloss black finishes for the front splitter, air intake covers and side skirts, as well as black chrome exhaust tips and grille blades – as well as heat-insulating tinted glass, unique black emblems, matte carbon fiber accents and 22-inch wheels.

Inside, the G63 Edition 55 features an AMG performance sports steering wheel covered with Dinamica microfiber with a unique emblem, as well as red and black nappa leather seat covers.

Starting at $8,900, Edition 55 versions of the Mercedes-AMG A45 S Hot Hatch and CLA45 S Sedan are available to order on Tuesday, February 7th and Friday, February 10th, respectively.

They add an AMG aerodynamics package with a larger front splitter, front aero ‘flics’, a taller rear wing, rear bumper air deflectors and a tweaked rear diffuser, all in gloss black.

The Edition 55 package for both cars also includes the Night Package II – with black badging – as well as a choice of Cosmos Black Metallic and Digital White Metallic colours, ‘Edition’ exterior decals and 19-inch matte gray alloy wheels.

Inside, the cars come with red and black AMG Performance front seats, a Dinamica microfiber AMG Performance steering wheel with Edition 55 badging, AMG door sills with red lighting, AMG floor mats with Edition 55 embroidery, dark brushed aluminum inlays and black and red fitted accents in the interior.

The Edition 55 also consists of AMG Performance Sound – which reproduces simulated “sporty” or “motorsport” driving noises via the vehicle’s loudspeakers – and an individual AMG indoor car cover for each vehicle.
