2023 BMW M3 Touring price and specs

BMW’s long-awaited M3 Touring is due to arrive in Australia early next year, at a price premium of $8,000 over the sedan.

That 2023 BMW M3 Touring – the name given to the wagon variant that will be sold alongside the coupe and sedan – will appear on Australian showrooms early next year and now the German automaker has set local pricing and features for its long-awaited high-performance five-door hatchback.

Unveiled in June 2022, the M3 Touring is the first car from BMW’s high-performance M division to go on sale in Australia after local buyers missed out on the limited-edition M5 Touring built from 2007 to 2010.

The BMW M3 Touring is priced from $177,500 plus road expensesmaking it $8,000 more expensive than the equivalent sedan.

As with the four-door flagship BMW M3, the Touring is sold exclusively in the Competition xDrive version – with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six “S58” petrol engine with all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission.

BMW claims that the M3 Touring, with up to 375 kW and 650 Nm, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and takes 12.9 seconds to reach 200 km/h from a standstill.

The BMW M3 Touring is electronically limited to a top speed of 250 km/h, but buyers who opt for the $17,500 M Carbon Experience package can have this increased to 280 km/h.

Other components of the M Carbon Experience package are M Carbon bucket seats (vehicle weight reduced by 9.6 kg), interior and exterior cladding made of carbon and two vouchers for the BMW Driving Experience advanced courses.

As with the recently updated 3 Series, the M3 Touring features BMW’s new iDrive 8 dashboard, which includes a 14.9-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument display combined in a single curved panels are integrated.

The iDrive 8 system includes features such as wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other interior features include a Harmon Kardon sound system, three-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and a head-up display.

The electrically adjustable and heated sports seats at the front, the rear seats, the center console, the door panels and the lower dashboard of the BMW M3 Touring are covered with Merino leather – available in four colours.

Compared to the existing BMW M3 Sedan, the 500-litre boot capacity of the M3 Touring offers an increase of 20 liters with the rear seats up. If the 40:20:40 split second row of seats is folded down, their capacity increases to 1510 liters – identical to the Audi RS4 Avant.

The BMW M3 Touring is equipped with an automatically powered tailgate and a separately opening rear window that offers two ways of accessing the trunk.

Safety features carried over from the 3 Series and the existing M3 range include automatic LED high beam headlights, Forward Collision Warning with pedestrian detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Park Assist Plus, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Departure Warning .
