2023 BMW M3 CS set to be unveiled later this month - report

According to reports, BMW is giving its M3 performance sedan the ‘CS’ treatment for the first time in five years.


the 2023 BMW M3 CS – a tougher variant of the German performance sedan – is reportedly due to be unveiled between January 27th and 29th, according to reports from overseas.

BMW blog The German automaker will reportedly unveil the “Competition Sport” variant of the M3 later this month at the Daytona 24 Hours auto race in the US, before the car is scheduled to go into production in March 2023.

In December 2022, BMW insider information appeared on the Bimmerpost Forums suggested that production of the M3 CS is expected to start in March 2023, with the high-performance sedan based on the all-wheel-drive “Competition xDrive” variant of the M3.



the Bimmerpost Report claims that the BMW M3 CS’s twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine will produce up to 405kW, which is the same as the M4 CSL Coupe and offers an increase of 30kW compared to the M3 Competition xDrive.

2022 BMW M3

While BMW put the M4 CSL on a crash diet, tipping the scales at 100kg lighter than the standard M4, the M3 CS is not expected to lose as much weight as its coupe sibling.

The previous generation BMW M3 CS was launched in 2018, limited to 1200 units worldwide and offers a weight saving of 50 kg compared to the base M3.



In Australia, the 2018 BMW M3 CS started at $179,529 plus road cost – $33,000 more than the M3 Competition at the time.

The 2023 BMW M3 sedan currently starts at $153,500 plus road cost in manual rear-wheel drive configuration, while the flagship Competition xDrive with automatic transmission is $169,500.
