Getting older, shot through knees, looking at small SUVs. Thought why not electric.

I like the general look, just looks balanced, no sharp angles in your face. The interior is comfortable and well designed and so far everything works as expected. Fit and finish is good. Not a fan of the plastic wheel trims, they look nice but they are PLASTIC. The alloys underneath have to be the ugliest out there. The previous EV had really nicely machined alloys so I’m disappointed they removed them.

The car drives really well. Lots of power, especially in sport mode. I usually use the Eco option and find it’s all I need for everyday driving. Love the instant start, no lag, smooth and oh so quiet. It took me a while to get used to the quiet start, you sit there and think is it okay or do I need to do something else? It has been reliable so far, only 2 months old and 2600 Ks.

The car has a comprehensive list of safety features, Radar Cruise, Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert. It also has full SATNAV with traffic updates.

The radio is horrible unless on FM, it’s DAB which is useless for AM bands (not everyone likes listening to electronic goofy and hip hop music on FM) considering most buyers are over 50 are as I was told.

It has Android Auto and Apple Car Play but no instructions on how to connect. I spent time with the seller (30+ years experience) and he couldn’t figure out how to connect it to my phone. I emailed MG 2 weeks ago and got no reply so waste of time if you ask me. There is no contact number for MG customer service which makes it an oxymoron I guess.

Charging is done at home with the included cable (connects to a regular outlet), takes almost 2 days to charge from 20% to 100%, I’m waiting for my own charger to be installed, costs $1600 but then just takes about 4 hours . I’ve never tried public chargers, information on them and ports, charging rates and locations is a bit torn. I charge the car with different residual charge, somewhere between 20 and 50%. I do this for the first few months to ensure the battery is charged with a full deep charge.

Improvements I think that could be made is that it needs a proper user guide, nothing about connecting your phone, streaming etc. As I mentioned MG is down, sent emails and no reply, no emergency contact number, making it impossible to get help in case of problems.

I’ve also noticed that MG isn’t sticking to the $500 deal for the home charger, even though it says so on their website. Maximum battery charge rate cannot be determined, dealer does not know, MG does not answer emails. Need this to install a home charger.

Would I buy or recommend another, I’m 50/50 here, I really like the car but dealer/service seem to know very little about it. Maybe just like MG got your money now don’t care?
