The Yellowstone franchise continues to grow with news of a Season 2 renewal for 1923. The second half of 1923The freshman season of ‘s will start again on Sunday, February 5, with the season 1 finale scheduled for February 26. There had been reports of the 1923 prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren is getting an early renewal in October, but Paramount+ made it official today. Another eight-episode season is on the way, taking fans back to the early 1900s to follow the patriarchs of the Dutton family. 1883another spin-off of YellowstoneParamount+ gave its biggest premiere for an original series in December 2021.

What is 1923 about?

1923, the next part of the Dutton family origin story, introduces a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series is about the early twentieth century, when pandemics, historic droughts, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain to the west, and the Duttons who call it home.

Besides Ford and Mirren, 1923 also plays Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A snow-white Christmas), James Badge Dale (High Town), Marley Shelton (scream), Brian Geraghty (Big sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry) and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones).

How does season 1 of 1923 end?

It’s been almost a month since the last episode of the Yellowstone precursor 1923 dropped on Paramount + leaving fans in a bit of limbo when it comes to this generation of the Dutton family. The series finale, “War and the Turquoise Tide”, answered the question about the fate of Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) and saw Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) come to the realization that he had to go home to Montana, but fans are left behind waiting to see what happens next for both trips as the series took a break. However, the wait is almost over. 1923 returns this weekend on Sunday, February 5.

At this point, we’re not exactly sure what to expect from the upcoming new episode of 1923. The last time we saw Jacob he was alive, but he was seriously injured, not to mention the new threat from Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) and Cara tries to settle things with the livestock commission for Jacob, but that proves difficult to do when Creighton (Jerome Flynn) believes he actually killed him. We also know that things have gotten complicated for Teonna (Aminah Nieves) as well. After enduring all sorts of horrors at school, she finally escaped and brutally murdered Sister Mary (Jennifer Ehle). While you can assume that Teonna is heading home to Montana, you can also assume that she will also be charged for that crime, something that will likely be explored more once the series returns from this hiatus.

Sklenar has also teased that it might not be easy for Spencer Dutton when he’s on his way home either.

“I can say it’s not going to be a joyful homecoming, that’s for sure,” said Sklenar. “I think Spencer will get hot and he’ll have a lot to do when he gets home. And it won’t be an easy journey to get there.’
